Oficina Impossível

Residency Program

The residency program at Oficina Impossível offers artists dedicated time and space to develop new work, explore ideas, and deepen their research within a supportive and intellectually vibrant environment.

Located in the Santos‑o‑Velho neighborhood of Lisbon, the project unfolds across two interconnected spaces: an art gallery and six working studios. This coexistence between exhibition and production creates a living ecosystem where creation, dialogue, and experimentation happen side by side.

What the Residency Offers

  • A private studio within a community of resident artists
  • Curatorial accompaniment, including studio visits, conceptual guidance, and ongoing conversations
  • Access to onsite resources and the wider creative network of Oficina Impossível
  • Optional public moments, such as open studios, talks, interviews, or presentations when they align with the artist’s process

There is no obligation to produce a final exhibition. The focus is on supporting each artist’s research, experimentation, and development.

Working Environment

Residencies take place during periods when the gallery is closed to the public, ensuring a calm and focused atmosphere for creation. Artists are encouraged to shape their time according to the needs of their project, whether advancing a specific work, testing new directions, or dedicating uninterrupted time to their practice.

Duration & Conditions

Residencies are tailored individually. Duration, working conditions, and objectives are defined in dialogue with each artist, taking into account the rhythm of their project and the resources required.
