João Pedro Silva
João Pedro Silva was born in Lisbon in 1977. He holds a degree in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of Lisbon (FAUTL) and divides his professional activity between Architecture, Design, and the Visual Arts. In the field of Visual Arts, he is primarily dedicated to Sculpture, with a strong focus on site‑specific installation. He works with a wide range of materials, adapting them to each project he undertakes. His artistic practice is also divided between Sculpture and Drawing.
He has been exhibiting individually since 2006: Forms of Light, simultaneously at the National Costume Museum and Mãe d’Água das Amoreiras, Lisbon (2006); Lost Places, City Parks, Pinhal de Leiria and Atlantic Coast, Marinha Grande (2007); Stillness, Ajuda Botanical Garden, Lisbon (2008); Silent Divide (with Altina Martins), National Costume Museum, Lisbon (2009); Presences, Absences, Salt Museum Centre, Figueira da Foz (2009); and Where the Echo Lights Up and Fades, Aldeia da Luz, Mourão – Museu da Luz (2017).
He has also participated, by invitation, in artistic residencies: Festival Interferências – drawing (Lisbon, 2012) and Algarve, Sea and Mountain Project – gastronomy and contemporary art (Castro Marim, 2015).
