Andreia Tocha
Andreia Tocha (Portugal, 1977) develops an interdisciplinary practice where art and craft intersect as a field of material and poetic experimentation, integrating traditional elements into contemporary art and building a personal vocabulary grounded in the transformation of matter. Her work focuses on the relationships between light and shadow and sustainability, through the transformation of natural materials and waste into sculpture, using upcycling processes as well as ceramics and glass. Matter, making, and poetic dimension constitute the central axes of her research.
Among her most relevant projects are Objectos de Luz (2011) and Fata Morgana (2014), presented at the Bordalo Pinheiro Museum. The installation Os Abanicos (2013), commissioned for the Sines Arts Centre, and the public sculpture Força Crua (2017), in Alcobaça, mark key moments in her trajectory. She has presented her work in design and contemporary art exhibitions in Portugal and Spain, and has been distinguished with an Honourable Mention.
